Today, Nampa City Countil is going to be busy. They’re meeting with reps from the Boys & Girls Club of Nampa, Nampa Rec Center, and the Nampa Salvation Army to discuss transportation needs. These three programs were shafted by the Nampa School District that cut all funding for after school programs to help reduce their $4.3 million budget deficit. Honestly, I think the school district could look at other cuts, but I suppose that’s another story. What the school district didn’t think about was how much this transportation really benefits the kids. Do they realize how many kids are kept off the streets and out of trouble by participating in these programs? I sure hope the Nampa City Council helps out these programs. If the school district chooses to fail these kids, at least the city could step in and make a change.
